21

Birthdays come. Birthdays go. Some birthdays are more special than the rest. I will tell you all about my 21st birthday. My thoughts and thereafter.

There are certain days when things just turn out to be perfect even though it was not planned, not decided. Yesterday was such an unusual day. From being woken up by a person least expected to an adventurous day out with friends to someone singing the birthday song just before the clock struck midnight and the next day began, it was nothing short of awesome-ness. And yes! Being home adds to all the charm.

Sometimes you make a check-list of things you would want to do before you turn 21, no! I haven’t made mine. But to think of it, even if I had made one, I’m sure it would have been pretty boring. Would consist of the usual. The day to day stuff. It would be pretty monotonous, I would say! So all that ever happened in these 21 years was spontaneous. It felt like it was just meant to be. For a reason - sometimes good, sometimes bad. But whatever be it, it always managed to teach a lesson.

I do not regret. Never have I. Some decisions in life were my own. Sometimes I followed my heart and not my mind. Sometimes I followed my mind and not my heart. Sometimes I tried to weigh the pros and cons. At other times, I didn’t. Some decisions were made by my parents. Many of which I did not like. I resented. But in the beginning. Because more often than not, they were right. That is maybe what age and experience do to you. They teach. You learn. I’ve learnt from my mistakes. I have not regretted.

And that is maybe the greatest birthday gift. From life. As I turn the big TWENTY ONE.

IFFAT

I have written a lot of stuff from time to time but I have lost even more, thanks to my carelessness. A year back I had decided to write a few lines on MY People. And although not all, I did manage to write a few. Only to lose them this March. And how I lost them is yet another story, I will tell you all soon.

Thank you Iffat for saving yours.

A poem for you...
Is not as easy as it's true;
For the qualities that you bind
Makes you one of the 'hard to find' kind!

A person so gentle yet so strong;
Who has the courage to speak for every wrong.
In all my tasks, you were with me
Like a sweet and supporting di!

The little time that we shared
Reminds me how well we paired.
Teaching, shopping, eating...we did it all
You did not ever let me fall!

Now I want to thank you for all you did
But I promise, of me you will never get rid;
Everytime you try to hide
You will find me by your side! ;-)

Love you loads!!!!

Why Bergamot?

When I said 'See you soon' in my last post, even I did not imagine I'd be back this soon! But thanks to my sweet, ever-supporting friends and family, I'm back in less than 24 hours. Infact, I would have been back a lot earlier, just that I was trying to fix a few things with my blog. Thank you Vatsal for the great help with the widgets. Well, honestly, I never expected, all of you would actually read and even more, bother to leave a comment or yes! click on the 'like' button. Thank you all for that encouragement which has acted as the driving force.

And here, how can I not mention my mom and grandmom. I have to tell you what my mum did. She actually got a print-out of my first blog-post to show it off to her friends! Even at this age her enthusiasm to brag (she'd prefer me calling it taking pride!) amuses me. But that's what you call motherly affection! I love you ma. And my grandmom. The smile on her face was irreplaceable when I told her I had finally started writing. Being a writer herself, she has been behind my back for the past 8 years!!! Finally I succumbed and the glee on her face. I wish i had a camera in hand at that moment.

Okay! moving on. One question most of you had "Why Bergamot?"

Several reasons. So, here it is. My answer.

Bergamot is a fruit, the size of an orange and the colour of a lemon. If you know me even a little, you wouldn't need to read the next line. But to all those who don't or for those who are getting to know me. I love oranges and lemons. Absolutely love. Bergamot, being the combination of the two, I didn't have to choose between my two loves. Hence, nothing better.

Second, Bergamot's got a great fragrance. And I hope through my posts, I am able to spread a pleasant fragrance...that rejuvenates and refreshes all. I want to spread a sweet smell. Of life, of thoughts and expression.

Another funny property of the Bergamot fruit is that it's peel is used in aroma therapy to treat depression. Now, need I say more?

A start

I have been wanting to write...write for long but have always managed to find an excuse to procrastinate, to put it off for another time. I am like any other person. A flurry of thoughts, a sea of emotions, abundance of ideas, imagination running wild. There's always been the urge to pen down this myriad hues that cross my mind. Not that I've never written, I have but I have always kept them to myself. It's been difficult to share. I don't know why. Maybe because when I write I see a different shade to my own personality. It becomes difficult to recognise..recognise ME. I seem mature, grown-up, the child within me does not exist. Maybe because I write...I write when I am in a pensive mood. People who know me find it hard to believe what I have written. But it certainly relaxes me. Helps me get over that phase and become normal again. By normal, I mean happy, bubbly, chirpy, carefree. That's what I usually am. That's how people know me. Yes, a complete antithesis. I love talking. I talk on a lot of stuff. Usually in conversations, my sentences have no connectors. People say. My friends turn to me for advice and without trying to boast, I do make a lot of sense. They agree. They wonder how I am always happy. I am not. I have my own share of sad spells. When I am happy, I talk. When I am not, I need my own space to reflect. This is going to be my space for my reflections, and I had a very strong feeling to name it Reflections but no! I have decided to write...write all that I want, happy and sad times, everything that just crosses my mind. I want to share. A plethora of Expression. And this is just a start... See you soon!
